Advisers urged to tackle leadership diversity as 'women not progressing'

‘More needs to be done’ to ensure women can rise to senior levels

Advisers have been urged to address a “lack of diversity” in leadership if they want to retain talented women.

Speaking at The Lang Cat's HomeGame conference today (30 September), Equate Scotland director Dilraj Sokhi Watson said too much focus has been placed on recruitment drives, when the real issue lies in progression. "The financial advice career isn't diverse at all because if you look at everyone who is making decisions, it is men," she said. "Women are not progressing in their careers, they're not being promoted, which is why they're leaving the sector. It doesn't start from recruitment, it starts from leadership."
