Professional Adviser news editor Sahar Nazir has won the inaugural Diversity & Financial Inclusion Story of the Year award at this year’s Headlinemoney Awards.

The awards, which took place on Wednesday (16 July), recognise excellence in financial journalism.

Nazir won for her interview with special needs financial planner and SENDA founder Rhiannon Gogh.

"I'm proud of my story, which looked at the work of financial planner Rhiannon Gogh, who helps neurodivergent clients – including those with autism – and is helping transform their lives," Nazir said. "Thank you to Rhiannon for so openly sharing her story about her son Tristan, and what led her to her career."

Nazir's article was praised as "unique" by one judge, who added that it "sheds light on what it is possible for the financial services sector to achieve in supporting individuals with complex situations due to vulnerabilities".

Another judge, who described it as a "genuinely different take", commented that Nazir's article was an "important story on an issue which gets nowhere near the attention it deserves".
