Private equity cash ensures IFA M&A 'boom' continues

Deals continue despite economic and regulatory headwinds

Merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the IFA space is predicted to continue at pace in 2025 as strong valuations maintain momentum in the face of economic and regulatory headwinds, according to a report from Heligan Group.

The market report said competition among acquirers had kept valuation multiples at "historically high levels". It explained high quality IFA businesses could command an eight to ten times EBITDA valuation. It also said that while rising interest rates have introduced some pressure, "premium firms with strong compliance frameworks and geographically attractive locations continue to attract top-tier valuations".
