Financial advisers should be encouraging their clients to open up discussions about their retirement goals rather than solely focusing on finances, according to national IFA Continuum.

With Talk Money Week taking place from 6 to 10 November, Continuum has called on advisers to talk to their clients about the kind of income they will need for their retirement. Chartered financial planner Ben Alcock warned that different clients will be "picturing retirement very differently" and advisers can use guidance figures from the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association to kick off conversations about clients' retirement plans.
