Self-reliance in financial guidance is the 'new selfishness'

Increasing number of clients taking own approach on financial advice

More than half (54%) of clients are embracing a self-reliant approach when it comes to seeking financial guidance, according to a new study.

The findings are by Investor Index, with the study conducted among 1,100 UK adults - an 11% increase from the previous year. When it comes to financial guidance, the study revealed that clients are more likely to rely on their own research. Of those who have never paid for financial advice, 29% believe they can get all the information they need online. Clients also said that the cost of living crisis has taught them what they need to know about investing, with 79% of younger investors (18-44) confident in a largely autonomous approach.
