Financial advisers must do more to “shake off” stereotypes and compete with law and accountancy if the profession is to attract the next generation of planners.
Speaking at The Lang Cat's HomeGame conference today (30 September), Johnston Carmichael Wealth Chartered financial planner Martin Hendry said advisers face stiff competition from other professions. "People want to do accountancy or law, and that's a challenge," he said. "There is a major awareness of the lack of young advisers, and we want to attract the best people. "But it is scarily accurate what young people think of advisers – stereotypes we need to shake off."
