FCA 'agnostic' on advice industry consolidation benefits

Regulator unsure on consolidation outcome but will continue engagement with firms

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is “agnostic” on whether consolidation is a “good or bad thing” for the financial advice market.

Speaking at The Lang Cat Live Divide and Conquer 2025 conference today (6 February), FCA head of department, consumer investments market analysis & policy Sara Woodroffe said the regulator is taking a "closer look" at the consolidation market and will release details of its findings this summer. Woodroffe confirmed that the watchdog is continuing its engagement with firms this year. She said the FCA has recorded an increase in consolidation over the last few years.
