Zurich pays out 94% of critical illness claims

Life insurer Zurich UK has paid out a total of £34.5m in critical illness claims in the first half of this year, totalling 94% of claims.

In the first six months of 2012, 90% of claims were successful, leading the insurer to pay out £32.7m. Figures released by Zurich this morning revealed that the insurer had compensated 409 customers between January and June, compared with 411 in the same period last year. The largest claim paid out in H1 2013 was for £1m, while the top four reasons for claims were cancer, heart attack, stroke and multiple sclerosis.
