Job security and economy fears increase staff stress

Fears over job security and economic uncertainty appear to be taking their toll on employees' health and wellbeing, according to Canada Life.

The group risk insurer has found that almost half of all employees are more stressed at work than they were this time last year. It suggested conditions have worsened over the last 12 months with many employees finding themselves having to cover the workload of a diminishing workforce. A third (34%) of respondents to Canada Life's survey believe job cuts have resulted in a smaller workforce which is being stretched to cover the same workload.
