RDR: FSA to allow 'alternative' level four assessment

Advisers who find written or oral examinations "stressful" may be tested via practical assessments and course work, the FSA confirms today.

In its latest consultation paper, the regulator says QCF level four awarding bodies will be allowed to develop qualifications that involve 'alternative' assessment methods besides written and oral exams. However, it says any alternative assessment must meet FSSC exam standards adding the  methodology must satisfy the requirements of the qualifications Regulator, OfQual. "We fully understand that certain people find exams stressful and would prefer an alternative," the consultation paper reads.
