Morning Markets:FTSE buoyed by strong performances from miners

UK stocks continued to rise this morning with the FTSE 100 climbing 32.22 points (0.63%) to 5174.82 points in early trading.

The index was driven by strong performances from mining stocks as metal prices rallied. Kazakhmys rose 2.64% to £11.28 and Xstrata rose 2.18% to reach £9.61. Meanwhile, Tullow Oil is up 2.15% to £11.87 after bullish predictions from brokers. Early increases follow a strong performance by the index yesterday, which saw it rise to an intra-day high of 5189.88 points before slipping back to finish up 0.16% at 5142.60 points. Clothing maker Burberry Group is the biggest mover jumping 2.81% or 13.40 points to 490p after chief executive Angela Ahrendts said its UK business was strong as dem...
