FSA spends £11,500 pushing Tiner's boat out

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) spent more than £11,000 on former chief executive John Tiner's leaving party.

The FSA says it held a three and a half hour party on 10 July on the HMS Belfast, costing £10,022 plus VAT. The regulator held another six hour party on 18 July at Tiner’s office, costing £1,424.25. Guests on Tiner’s party boat included Abbey National chairman Lord Terence Burns, Lord Blackwell, non-executive director of Standard Life, and Stephen Timms MP, minister of state for competitiveness. From 2006 to 2007 Tiner earned total pay of £652,577; £430,000 of which was in salary with £95,000 performance related bonuses and £127,577 in ‘other emoluments and benefits’. Tiner stepped ...
