Mining stocks pushed the FTSE 100 higher, as it ended the day up 37.5 points, or 0.63%, to 5,986.6 to finish at its best levels of the day.

In early trading, the FTSE 100 index has started strongly with gains of 18.9 points, or 0.32%, to 5,968, and Partygaming is leading the way.

The FTSE 100 has ended the day with gains of 43 points, or 0.73%, to 5,949.1, with Legal & General leading the gains.

The FTSE 100 has recovered from a poor performance yesterday in early trading, with gains of 20.8 points, or 0.35% to 5,926.5, headed by Centrica leading the rally.

The FTSE 100 has ended the days trading down 23.2 points, or 0.39%, to 5,906.1 despite good performances from Antofagasta and Carnival.

The FTSE 100 is slightly down by 3 points, or 0.05%, to 5,926.3 following a very bumpy start to early trading.

THE FTSE 100 is currently up 21.2 points, or 0.36%, to 5,909.5 despite steelmaker Corus leading the fallers following disappointing results.

The FTSE 100 has ended the day up just 9.7 points, or 0.17% to 5,888.30, despite reaching earlier peaks of over 5,900 as Wall Street opened weakly.

The FTSE 100 Index has gained 26.80 points, or 0.5%, to 5905.4 points this morning, led by copper mining company Antofagasta.
