Weak financials bring FTSE lower

The FTSE 100 is down 5.9 points, or 0.1%, to 6,151.4, as gains in the mining sector have been cancelled out by negative broker comment and weak financials.

Prudential is one of the biggest drags on the index with a drop of 1.54% to 639p, closely followed by Bradford & Bingley which is down 1.36% to 470.25p, while Barclays has slipped 1.17% to 715p. Cadbury Schweppes is posting the biggest losses so far with a drop of 1.7% to 548p, while Marks & Spencer has slipped 1.06% to 653p, although losses are being limited by Morrison Supermarkets which is up 0.9% to 253.25p. ITV is the biggest gainer in early trading with a rise of 1.49% to 102p, while miner Lonmin is up 1.15% to £27.34, closely followed by Drax which has climbed 1.03% to 786p, whil...
