Aegon: ABI exit is 'amicable'

Aegon has said it will leave life company trade body the Association of British Insurers (ABI) at the end of the year, and instead lobby the government and regulators directly.

Aegon hinted that the move was due to it having issues compromising with other ABI members. "If different companies have different strategies, it's more challenging to arrive at a common position," a spokesperson said. "It's not about the topics we or the ABI lobby on - it's about expressing individual views. The ABI naturally must base its views on input from across its membership."
