The global news story of the week is almost undoubtedly US president Donald Trump’s tariffs.

The world waited with bated breath on Wednesday to see how ‘liberation day' would play out.  US freedom, it seems, comes at a price – and not just for America. Trump confirmed a baseline tariff of 10% for all countries importing into the US and custom tariffs for those deemed "worst offenders". The European Union (20%), China (54%) and Japan (24%) are among those that appear to have drawn Trump's ire.
