I received a postcard the other day showing a picture of a weather stone dangling on a rope.  The board behind the stone helpfully told you that if the stone was wet it was raining, if it was swinging it was windy, if you couldn't see it then it was foggy, and if it was gone it was a storm. Perhaps if you live in Australia and get day after day of sunshine it's easy to predict future weather by looking at the weather stone, but when living in a country of notoriously changeable weather I'd prefer to go with the professional forecasting by a weatherman (or app).
