The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed it will stand by its initial decision not to pay compensation to the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) campaign group.
The government's decision, announced today (29 January), said in drawing its conclusion, it had considered a number of factors, including reports published by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO), parliament's views, economic factors and fairness. Last November, the government announced it would reconsider its decision to reject awarding compensation, after it initially confirmed in December 2024 that no compensation would be awarded.
