The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published an action plan outlining how it will learn lessons from a government investigation into communications about the state pension age for women.
The DWP said its action plan will focus on learning the lessons from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman's (PHSO) report, which examined the communications sent to women about changes to the state pension age. The PHSO's report, published in March 2024, found the DWP failed to inform thousands of women born on or after 6 April 1950 the state pension age had changed and that maladministration in decision-making between August 2005 and December 2007 led to a delay in sending letters to inform them about state pension changes.
