I'm always astounded at the dichotomy between the industry view of IFAs and public opinion, but I came across another classic example this week which proves just how difficult it is to change people's negative stereotypes.
Aside from watching the email correspondence flurring backwards and forwards between IFAs about Jeremy Clarkson’s views of IFAs – describing them in his weekend newspaper column as “a long and complicated way of saying ‘thief’” – which clearly have not gone down well, an IFA friend and I came face-to-face with Joe Public earlier this week, in a public house of all places.
