Reeves refuses to rule out Autumn Budget tax rises

Says upcoming budget will focus on ‘growth with fairness’

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has said her forthcoming budget will focus on “growth with fairness”, aiming to strengthen the UK’s economy.

Speaking this morning (4 November) ahead of the Autumn Budget on 26 November, Reeves said as she takes her "decisions on both tax and spend", she will "do what is necessary to protect families from high inflation and interest rates, to protect our public services from a return to austerity, and to ensure that the economy that we hand down to future generations is secure with debt under control".
