FCA looking 'much more closely' at how firms manage private markets transition risks - Nike Trost

Speaking at Investment Week’s Private Markets Summit, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) head of wholesale buyside Nike Trost highlighted areas of focus, opportunities and risks the regulator is managing in light of the “marked shift” as the asset class opens up to a broader investor base.

She said the attention on pension investors as defined contribution schemes diversify into private assets, but also the debate around ‘retailisation', raises questions for the regulator. "Certainly, it will make us look much more closely at how firms manage that transition of their business, because there are different risks," she said.
