Industry dismisses chancellor's Mansion House speech

Majority say it did not deliver a ‘forward-moving’ plan

Industry professionals have expressed dissatisfaction with chancellor Rachel Reeves’ Mansion House speech last month, with many saying it fell short of delivering a clear, forward-moving plan for the UK economy, according to a Professional Adviser poll.

Last week's PA Asks which had 33 respondents, found that the majority (62%) of respondents said the speech did not deliver a "forward-moving" plan. Just 13% felt the speech met the mark, while 25% said ‘maybe', expressing scepticism but leaving room for future outcomes. One respondent who was dissatisfied with the speech described it as "absolutely hopeless", while another said they are "disturbed at how the future looks with the backdrop she has created".
