Advisers urged to use social media to 'confront real issues'

Advisers can also use social media as ‘positive force for their brand’

Financial advisers should be using social media to tackle real issues and demonstrate their values online, according to the Financial Technology Research Centre and Protection Guru founder Ian McKenna.

Speaking to Professional Adviser, McKenna said social media was a great way to highlight issues which may affect clients and businesses. He explained Protection Guru had done work with its internal medical team to look at the impact of menopause in the industry, which has helped "stimulate a debate on social media". "We have picked up various bits of research on menopause and tried to stimulate a debate because let's face it - at least half the population will experience menopause at one point in their lives and there is nearly not enough content about it on social media," McKenna ...
