Financial advisers have been urged to “evolve” and consider how they engage with their female clients to avoid the risk of them going elsewhere, according to M&G pension specialist Kirsty Anderson.

Speaking at the Personal Finance Society's Duty Bound 2023 conference today (2 November), Anderson said women often feel ignored by their advisers. "Women feel vulnerable because they feel uneducated and do not feel acknowledged by their adviser," she told delegates. "They feel ignored. If a female client does not feel valued, she will walk away." Furthermore, Anderson argued that women's adult children would advise their mother to walk away if they knew she is not being valued by her adviser.
