FCA exceeds three diversity targets amongst panels

The watchdog aims to make progress on diversity as ‘quickly as possible’

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) now has 31 percent of women across all its independent panels as of 31 March 2023, according to its 2023 annual report.

The FCA previously agreed to adopt diversity targets for its independent panels. The regulator revealed that across all the independent panels, the target for at least one senior position to be held by a woman has been exceeded. Additionally, four out of five independent panels meet the target that at least one member is from an ethnic minority background. The financial services industry is grappling with "deep" diversity issues which, if they are not properly addressed, may become a supervisory issue, chief executive Nikhil Rathi told MPs at the start of his tenure.
