Market volatility spurs demand for advice as retirement plans change

Nearly three quarters (69%) of individuals in the UK are considering seeking professional financial advice due to current market conditions, according to Hymans Robertson Investment Services (HRIS).

The firm's Consumer Survey 2023 surveyed over 1,000 individuals with investable assets of over £300,000 to look at their attitudes towards investments and their advisers. HRIS said clients have been affected by a global pandemic, ongoing conflict in Europe, and inflationary concerns. The research also found that over half (55%) of individuals said the current market conditions have impacted their retirement plans, while over a quarter (27%) said they are looking to increase the amount they put into their pension.
