CISI: Trade bodies the 'unsung players' closing skill gaps

Institute says the financial services sector is struggling to plug holes

The financial services sector is struggling to close a burgeoning employee skills gap, according to the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).

CISI chief executive Tracy Vegro has said that it is professional bodies who are playing the pivotal role in addressing the skills gap within the financial services sector. Vegro emphasised the importance of collective efforts to build a profession that is well-prepared for the future. In response to this, she said 13 priority ‘future skills' identified in the Financial Services Skills Commission's (FSSC) latest framework will be embedded across the CISI's continuing professional development options.
