Farmers ‘more likely than non-agricultural workers’ to seek advice

Almost half (43%) of farmers are planning to seek financial advice in the next six months, new research from NFU Mutual finds.

The mutual's Spring 2023 bi-annual investor sentiment survey noted farmers and agricultural workers are "more likely than non-farmers" to seek advice owing to both their likely ‘non-traditional' pattern of retirement and the current economic environment in the UK. "Although farmers often do not retire in the traditional sense, many invest in pensions to provide an independent source of income to make it easier to hand over more of the day-to-day management of the farm to the younger generation," Chartered financial planner Sean McCann explained.
