7,000 advisers Chartered in 15 years

Close to 700 advisers have gained Chartered status each year since 2015, almost double the number who took it on within the first 12 months of its inception.

The Personal Finance Society (PFS), which launched Chartered status as it started in December 2005, said that 389 advisers gained the status as early adopters by December 2006. PFS figures also revealed that the number of advisers to become Chartered is continuing to rise. Both 2015 and 2016 saw 684 advisers become Chartered, with 707 in 2017, 709 in 2018, and 718 in 2019. The number of PFS members with level 4 diplomas has also risen significantly over the last 15 years, from 3,913 at the end of 2005 to 21,126 today.
