Group of former footballers suing St James's Place

A group of retired footballers are suing St James's Place (SJP) over claims it advised them to invest in tax avoidance schemes.

According to The Times, a group of 14 investors - including former Chelsea player-turned-pundit Andy Townsend - have alleged SJP said they should put their money into film and small business-related investment schemes later deemed to be tax-avoidance schemes. Other claimants in the group include former Millwall player David Livermore and ex-Nottingham Forest player Colin Cooper. Linvoy Primus, who played for Portsmouth and was honoured by the Queen in 2015, was also among those seeking redress from the advice giant.
