Advisers suspicious of advisers

The majority of advisers do not think regulation is supporting the development of advice and guidance, a survey carried out by Adviser Home has found.

The survey, which quizzed 254 financial advisers - of which 70% worked in small firms of five advisers or less - threw up consistently disheartening answers to questions on regulation. As an example, nearly half (48%) of respondents felt the rules and regulations around advice were not working well - more than twice as many as those who felt it was (22%). A further 30% said it was working well "in some circumstances". Meanwhile, some three-quarters (73%) of respondents did not believe regulation was supporting the development of advice and guidance.
