Cathedral Financial Management finance director Tim Ames has died following a short battle with cancer.

Ames (pictured) died surrounded by his family at home on Christmas Eve aged 45. He joined the Exeter-based advice firm in 1993 while studying financial services at Bristol Business School. He then worked his way up in the business and eventually took over the company alongside Emma Ames. In 2012, Ames took a step back from advising clients but remained a director at the firm. He was also the Institute of Financial Planning's regional branch chairman from 2008 to 2010.
