Women match men for investment knowledge but lack confidence when it comes to investing and taking risks, according to research from HSBC UK.

The bank, with the help of YouGov, spoke to 2,000 UK savers and carried out customer interviews to reach its findings. It found three-quarters (72%) of women do not like to take investment risks, in comparison to half (54%) of men. It said one-in-five (19%) women have an equities ISA, while one-in-three (32%) men do. HSBC also found one-third (35%) of women find financial jargon off-putting, while this was only the case for one-quarter (26%) of men.
