Former HMRC assistant director joins AJ Bell

Former HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) personal tax assistant director Peter Hopkins has left the taxman to join AJ Bell as technical director.

Hopkins (pictured) will oversee the technical resources team which supports advisers with complex product cases, as well as changing industry regulation.  He will also support AJ Bell's lobbying activity with both regulatory and government bodies, the firm said. Hopkins, who spent more than 10 years with the taxman, starts his new role with immediate effect, reporting to chief executive Andy Bell.
