Nucleus warns 'small' sunset clause impact could halve adviser profits

Nucleus has warned some advisers are drastically underestimating the impact the end of platform-based commission will have on their businesses, and suggests it could cut their profits in half.

With six months to go before the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) bans trail commission paid to advisers via platforms - known as the sunset clause - Nucleus has launched a white paper on the issue, alerting advisers to the dangers of doing nothing. Some advisers have dismissed the threat to their revenue of losing platform-based commission when it is switched off in April 2016, saying "only a small part of my income is exposed", according to Nucleus.
