The national minimum wage will be "strengthened" should Labour get to power following the next election, Labour leader Ed Miliband has pledged.
He said the minimum wage had lost in value since it was first introduced and had to be adjusted with some sectors being able to afford higher wages than others. Financial services, particularly the banks, were already paying higher wages than other firms in some cases and would continue to do so under a Labour government he pledged.
