FSA warns 49,000 people on boiler room 'master list'

The FSA is contacting more than 49,000 people to warn them they could be targeted by boiler room share fraudsters.

The individuals are all on the biggest 'master list', containing names, addresses and telephone numbers, ever recovered by the regulator. While most of the 49,387 people on the list are from London, others, who could be contacted out of the blue and offered worthless shares, are based in Scotland and the south east of England. Fraudsters in the UK and abroad are known to use the lists and the names are often circulated between different boiler room networks. The FSA is writing to everyone on the list to alert them to their presence on it and to advise them how to avoid getting scam...
