Providers defend efforts to warn Govt and public on RDR

Product providers have defended themselves against accusations of failing to bring enough public and political attention to the impact the RDR will have on advisers.

During a Q&A session at the Sesame Symposium in London, a number of senior figures within the industry insisted they had been working behind the scenes to highlight RDR issues. Simon Massey, intermediaries director at Scottish Widows, said: "You probably don't realise how much is going on behind the scenes and often playing these things out in the public domain won't get the same result as if you can actually influence and talk to the powers behind the scenes.
