Financial planning a 'profession' within 10 years - IFP

Financial planning will shed its ‘industry' tag and be seen as a ‘profession' within a decade, Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) CEO Nick Cann says.

Speaking to Professional Adviser at the IFP Annual Conference in Wales this week, Cann says the IFP will seek to "brand push" in the coming years, adding he wants to see holistic financial planning advertised on TV. "We want consumers to know what a financial planning firm is and what it does," he says. "We want them to know exactly what it is planners do and what qualifications they have. We want them to have certain expectations when they go to see a financial planner, and we want those expectations met.
