Banks more popular for advice than IFAs

More than 26 million adults believe banks and building societies are the best place to go for financial advice, claims research from MoneyExpert.com.

Joint research for MoneyExpert.com and Defaqto reveals around 54% of people prefer asking a bank or building society for advice, while 46% choose to ask family members, with 40% turning to their partner or spouse. Asked who they would go to for financial advice, just 21% of respondents say IFAs, with more people, at 22%, preferring to search the internet for advice. Other places people turn to for financial advice include the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, while 12% rely on their boss or work colleagues. The research also showed some differences in the way men and women seek financial advice....
