The Treasury is currently recruiting a replacement for Sir Callum McCarthy, current chairman of the FSA.
An advertisement in today’s Financial Times reveals the Treasury is seeking a successor to McCarthy, who is to retire when his current term as chairman comes to an end in September 2008. McCarthy has been chairman of the FSA since September 2003, moving over from the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets. The advertisement says candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in providing strategic leadership in a large organisation, though not necessarily in the financial services industry.
