The Financial Ombudsman Service's chief ombudsman, Walter Merricks, has been awarded a CBE at the Queen's birthday honours list.
The honour has been awarded for services to the financial services industry. Merricks join the FOS in 1999, when the organisation was created, and was the insurance ombudsman at the Insurance Ombudsman Service prior to joining the FOS. A spokesperson for the FOS says; “Walter has devoted a large proportion of his professional life to the development of ombudsman schemes - both at the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau and at the Financial Ombudsman Service and through his involvement with the British and Irish Ombudsman Association.
