top fund posts returns of 13.82% compared to sector average of -15.29%, as all but five of 75-strong sector fail to break into positive territory
Only five funds from a total of 75 in the UK small-cap sector managed a positive return over the 12 months to end of May. Performance generated in the period between June 1999 and May 2000 continues to buoy three-year figures, but losses made in the last year that have unwound the majority of growth the sector had generated. The top-performing fund in the last year, Premier UK Smaller Companies, posted a bid to bid 13.82% return, well above the sector average of -15.29% for the period.
