It is a hub of ‘isms' and home to one of people's least-favourite accents. It is the city where, as soon as you admit it is your home town, people feel obliged to reply with a twangy response of ‘Birm-in-umm'.  That said, Birmingham is not without its much-loved celebrities, from the prince of darkness Ozzy Osbourne and Dame Julie Walters to its Premier Inn star Lenny Henry. It is also now famous for the Peaky Blinders, as well as supposedly being a place of inspiration for J.R.R Tolkien - just hopefully not for Mordor.
