The Specialist sector has seen fluctuating fortunes in the past six months. However, as Charlotte Richards discovers, Latin America has emerged as a positive theme.

The Investment Management Association (IMA) Specialist sector is a mixture of funds, with the organisation stipulating it is for vehicles that have an investment universe not accommodated by the other mainstream sectors. The popularity of funds in the sector recently seems to have been as mixed as its constituents. While the final quarter of 2011 saw net outflows, the start of 2012 was more positive.
