With immediate effect our already comprehensive group critical illness cover includes the added value service provided by RED ARC.

We have also recently added to the range of conditions that are covered by our group critical illness, with 11 core conditions and 15 additional conditions available.

At Scottish Equitable we understand that people need all the help and support they can get when they are diagnosed with a critical illness. A cash lump sum will certainly help to alleviate the financial pressure and hopefully enable them to improve their quality of life. But this is only part of the issue, the emotional consequences of a critical illness can be immense, impacting on the member, their family, their colleagues and their employer..

That’s why we’ve introduced RED ARC.

The RED ARC service is designed to complement any NHS or private treatment a claimant receives from their doctor or specialist. When a claim is made a RED ARC personal nurse adviser will contact the member to answer any questions or concerns they might have about their condition. They are then available at the end of the phone to offer emotional support, and practical advice and assistance for the duration of the illness. This can range from providing extra physiotherapy to counselling as well as other support services. And remember the personal nurse adviser is there to support the whole family, not just the member.

RED ARC can also provide practical advice to the employer about the illness in general, and, for example, advice on what they might expect should the member wish to return to work during their treatment, and how they might accommodate that in a practical way.

Why is this different?

  1. We are offering this on a claims made basis, not just claims paid. So, even if the claim is rejected, they will still have access to this added value service.
  2. We’re not only offering this to the member – we’re extending this to include immediate family members
  3. We’re extending the service to employers, HR managers and line managers, to help them better understand their employees’ condition and its effect.
