Tactics for advising between the generations

Partner Insight: Logic Wealth Planning's Stephen Trenholm and Greenstone Financial Planning's Catherine Greeves met in London recently to discuss the topic 'Adviser approaches to client engagement - is digital king?'

Talking to Professional Adviser editor Julian Marr in the above video, the final in this series, Trenholm and Greeves discuss if and how their approach to financial advice changes towards different demographics.

Stephen Trenholm says: "I try to deal with each individual as they come. Technology has advanced and become accessible to everyone at the press of a button rather than the more complicated processes of before. Because of that, a lot more people are more easily contactable via phone or email or text message. So much so that I haven't had an experience where one particular section of my client bank have preferred communication over one channel or another."

The approach at Greenstone Financial Planning is a similar one. "We look at our clients on an individual basis and we try and tailor what we do," says Catherine Greeves. "I've got clients in their 80s who love their iPad and are on it all the time. And I've also got clients in their 30s who hate the idea of Skype.

"Our job as advisers is to embrace the technology and give clients their choice of platform. Within Greenstone one of our key remits is about helping clients and giving them an informed decision."
