Steve Webb joins Royal London as policy director

Former pensions minister Steve Webb has joined Royal London as director of policy and external communications.

In his new role Webb (pictured) will develop Royal London's policy on issues around long-term savings and protection as well as financial capability. He will also be in charge of the company's public relations and act as a spokesperson when he takes up the position in November. However, he will not be allowed to lobby the government for two years due to parliamentary rules. Webb lost his job in government after he was not re-elected in the May general election.
