Prudential's Thiam to head Credit Suisse

Insurer Prudential's chief executive Tidjane Thiam is to replace Brady Dougan at the helm of Swiss bank Credit Suisse.

Thiam (pictured), who has headed Prudential since 2009 will replace the bank's chief executive after he steps down in June, the FT reported. Credit Suisse and Prudential confirmed the move on March 10. Prudential is to publish its annual results later today. Profits had fallen flat in 2013 after sales of onshore investment bonds subsided following the Retail Distribution Review (RDR). Thiam has not worked in banking but is a respected figure in the City, having worked at Aviva and McKinsey in the past.
